Dear Merrick Families,

Welcome to the new school year! I am proud to serve as superintendent in such a vibrant community of learners, educators, and families.  On behalf of our entire staff, please know we are looking forward to ringing in the new school year with our students on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

The first day of school is always a special time filled with fresh energy, new beginnings, and endless possibilities. Whether your child is stepping into a classroom for the very first time or returning for another year of growth and discovery, we are committed to making this year joyful, safe, and enriching for every student.

Our elementary schools play a critical role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning. I’ve already seen firsthand the dedication of our teachers, the passion of our staff, and the enthusiasm of our students. As a district, we are focused on creating supportive and engaging learning environments that nurture curiosity, celebrate creativity, and build strong academic and social-emotional skills.

As I begin my first year as Superintendent in Merrick, one of my top priorities is listening and getting to know our students, families, and community partners. I believe that strong relationships between home and school are essential for student success, and I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks and months.
