Birch Beavers Are ‘Monster’ Readers During PARP

Birch students are showing their love of reading in a big way as they take part in this year’s PARP celebration, themed “Birch Beavers Are Monster Readers.”
Throughout the two-week PTA-sponsored program, families are encouraged to engage in shared reading activities at home and log their PARP minutes, motivating students to chomp through books and earn monstrously cool prizes along the way.
The excitement continued Jan. 21 with a schoolwide PARP assembly featuring Monster Intelligence, a lively puppet show by TheaterWorksUSA.
During the performance, students met Melvin the Monster, who is celebrating his birthday and must earn his license to scream. With help studying for the big test, Melvin’s story reinforced the importance of reading, learning, and perseverance.
“The program successfully fostered a love of literacy while bringing families together and inspiring Birch Beavers to read with enthusiasm, imagination, and confidence,” said librarian Vanessa Schroeder.
