Students at Lakeside School in the Merrick Union Free School District participated in a Boosterthon Run fitness challenge on Oct. 11. 

The event was a culmination of Health and Wellness Week, where students learned about healthy habits through daily activities, home-based prompts and morning announcements. 

Organized by the Health and Wellness committee of the PTA, students also donned shirts promoting the event and some sponsors. 

A DJ played upbeat music and called out special ways to run around the tracks in the school yard. The Lakeside Lion was even in on the fun, pepping up each grade as they challenged themselves to complete laps. 

The money raised supports PTA funded committees and programs such as field trips, cultural arts offerings, assemblies, and specialty clubs.
